Well said, Maureen!

The other days a comedian requested a moment of silence for "our lord and savior Barack Obama". I did not see the video but I am told that the audience cheered. - This was like a stab to my heart.

We Christians have to stand in confidence, as St. Paul advised us. Everything seems to be headed in a downward spiral - and not just in our beloved America. But we Christians must utterly trust Him, even if we are witness to the destruction of our world or lose our very lives. - And it may come to that for many of us, but to die for Christ is to die gloriously. - So let us live our lives in peace, without fear.

I think the point about being patient with your self is well made. Perhaps we get upset and push others because of that inner impatience with ourselves running amuck?

I think it's tough to be continuously patient with the elderly or sick too. It's like a short thread: you hold on and do "what you should" but because of the lack of true compassion or selfish impatience you get to the end of that thread very quickly.

Finally, I think impatience may be rooted in a need to control - the world and others or the part of our lives that doesn't live up to what we think it should be. - I know I have to watch that urge to control others and control my experience. - Only God has true power. We have to surrender to Him.

dangrant,

In the end, all that any of us can do is pray. To have Christ in your life is to have true wealth. Everything else is a distraction.

Although I am far from wealthy I have many things that I have accumulated over the years. Much of it holds sentiment for me, but all of it is truly worthless without Him. - I guess the "stuff" that I am very attached to is the memories of the past and the sense of having wanted to make "more" of myself. - What I cling to is a sense of self that has not been fully realized during the years I've lived. - I must humble myself by facing reality, letting go of empty dreams and fantasies, and regrets and recriminations. - All that "stuff" that weighs down my heart will mean nothing when I die. Our souls won't have to pack any baggage for that journey to God's deliverance from this life. - No "stuff" necessary. - Blessings and prayers to you.

Seems just bout everywhere have been going I have been being taught bout humility lately. Every passage that have read, daily devotionals etc the Lord is wanting me to either learn bout being humble or wants me to testify about it have yet to figure out as to what it is that He is wanting me to do with this yet but am praying that He speaks to my heart. Come from very humble background and have never been rich but recently have been blessed by the Lord and am learning that my riches are waiting for me in Heaven!

When I see this passage I always relate it to road rage! Insert “while driving be.......” in place of “love is” and see how you feel the next time you get behind the wheel! I was brought up short on this point by an expensive trip to the judge. Thank God I never hurt myself or anyone else before this was brought home directly to me. Now I ride in peace and quiet, thanking God on every trip that I have him watching over me. I view each “obstruction” as a gift that keeps me safe from some tragedy that might have befallen me if I kept on pushing ,shoving, and trying to get ahead. I no longer “rejoice at wrongdoing” while fearfully watching my rear view mirror for law enforcement! Please, God, give me patience, right now! If I can learn it behind the wheel, I can learn it elsewhere!

I believe the antiChrist will arise from Islam. I am an avowed Islamaphobic. Why not fear those who have sworn to convert or kill one? Islam is evil. Mohammed was a pedophile and a drunk. By the way, allah, is not I AM. allah was the household god of the moon of Mohammed's family pantheon of gods when they were polytheistic. AND the quran was written by a man! by Mohammed! not by a god. The beginning of the quran is an almost word for word rip off of the Old Testament of the Christian bible. I AM is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel (Jacob). He said so Himself. If His name was allah, He would have told that to Moses when Moses asked. Don't let the Muslims trick you with that, "We all worship the same god." They lie. The quran tells them to lie to infidels (anyone who is not a Muslim) in order to further Islam. Wise up, America! Do you really want to equate a religion that advocates, indeed, promotes lying and killing? Christianity promotes love and peace. Christians help people who don't believe as they do, and don't hurt them. Christ taught us to pray for our enemies, not kill them, as Mohammed urges Muslims. God help America!
