He Loves You
“For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.”
Valentine's Day is celebrated in the month February, therefore love is highlighted during that time in TV advertising, newspapers, and jewelry stores featuring diamonds for the special person in your life. Many people express their love to another person by sending valentine cards or the giving of heart shaped boxes filled with candies. “If your heart is full of love you will always have something to give” (Author Unknown).
Now that Valentine's Day is over for another year, the candy has disappeared, and the cards are saved, let's turn our attention to the greatness of God's love expressed to His people. He freely gives His unending and persistent love to you as a year-around gift.
How do you explain God's love to others? Helen Steiner Rice wrote a poem titled, “God's Love”. Rice explained her meaning of God's love via the following words: “God's love is like an island in life's ocean vast and wide...A peaceful, quiet shelter from the restless, rising tide. God's love is like an anchor when the angry billows roll...A mooring in the storms of life, a stronghold for the soul. God's love is like a fortress...and we seek protection there...When the waves of tribulation seems to drown us in despair. God's love is like a harbor where our souls can find sweet rest...From the struggle and the tension of life's fast and futile quest. God's love is like a beacon burning bright with faith and prayer...And through the changing scenes of life...we can find a haven there.”
The reassurance of God's love for His people can be found in the Holy Bible, and it is stated in countless ways. A few examples are: In the Book of Job, He watches everything you do, and counts every step you take. In the Book of Psalms, He collects every one of your tears, and He records each one. In the Book of Isaiah, He tells you to not be afraid because He will help you in time of trouble, and He will securely hold your right hand. In the Book of Philippians, the same loving God that took care of Paul and Timothy, will supply your every need.
The foremost example of God's steadfast love for His people is stated in the Book of Romans. It states: “...God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (NLT).
Whenever you need a reminder about the depth of God's love to you, remember that He has always loved you, and He will continue to do so. His faithful love is unconditional and endures forever. He will never leave you. Why? Because God is called, “Elohim Kol Eres” (God of the whole earth), and “He is good!”.
Lord God, thank You for Your mercy and love even when we stray. Amen.
