I Have A Plan For You

“The LORD says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

~Psalm 32:8

Gladys Aylward, a missionary to China stated: “I wasn't God's first choice for what I've done for China...I don't know who it was...It must have been a man...a well-educated man. I don't know what happened. Perhaps he died. Perhaps he wasn't willing...and God looked down...and saw Gladys Aylward...And God said, 'Well, she's willing.”.

Gladys Aylward was born in London, England in 1904. According to James Kiefer, she worked as a parlor-maid. While attending a revival meeting, the message from the preacher convinced her that she was called to be a missionary to preach the Gospel in China.

In 1930 Gladys Aylward traveled to China and in 1936 she became a Chinese citizen. She lived a frugal lifestyle and she wore the same clothing as the people who surrounded her.

During her lifetime she endured many hardships, including a war. Her missionary work included starting a Christian church in Sian. She also worked in a settlement for lepers in Szechuan near the borders of Tibet. In 1947 she returned to England because of health issues and remained persistent in preaching the Gospel. Her faith never wavered and she continued to surrender her life to the Lord until her death. With great faith she understood and lived out God's plan for her.

Another exciting example regarding one of God's plans being revealed, and centuries later being fulfilled, is in the Book of Isaiah and the Book of Luke. The plan was made known by the prophet Isaiah regarding the future promised Messiah. The plan was fulfilled in the Book of Luke when Jesus Christ went to His hometown synagogue. When Jesus Christ “stood up to read the Scriptures”, He stated that Isaiah's future messianic prophecy “had come true today before your very eyes!”. He was the one who would bring the Good News to the world.

Even though you may not be a prophet like Isaiah, or a missionary like Aylward, God's purpose for you is as significant. You ought to consistently remain watchful for His plan to be communicated to you. Take courage and obey Him by being persistent in studying and reading God's Word so you will recognize, and yield to His plan when it is revealed to you. Charles F. Stanley stated: “God's plan ensures every believer can reach his or her maximum potential...He accepts full responsibility for guiding them.”.

God is sovereign. Remain confident there is not a person that can halt God's plan for you, because His plans are not ordered by human actions.

Lord God, thank You for having a plan for each one of us. Help us to seek out Your plan for our life, and give us the endurance to remain in it. Amen.
