Moreover, when you fast, do not wear a somber expression like the hypocrites; for they disfigure their faces, so that others will know that they are fasting. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward. But you, when you fast, should anoint your head, and wash your face, so that your fasting will not be seen by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
Store not your treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves do not break through or steal.
