Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and illness.
When he saw the crowds, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered, like sheep with no shepherd.
He said to his disciples, "The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord about his harvest, that he will send forth laborers to it." And he called his twelve disciples to him, and gave them authority to cast out unclean spirits and to heal all kinds of disease and illness.
