He set another parable before them, saying,
"The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, then went away. While the blades grew to fruition, the weeds also came up.
And the servants of the householder came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? why does it have weeds?'
And he replied, 'An enemy has done this.' And the servants said, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'
But he said, 'No, I'm concerned that you might root up the wheat with them. Let them grow together until the harvest: and at the harvest I will tell the reapers:
'Gather the weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn.'"
Then Christ left the multitudes, and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field."
And he answered, "He that sowed the good seed is the Son of man; and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one; the enemy that sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the reapers are angels.
As therefore the weeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so will it be in the end of the world. The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. Then will the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that has ears, let him hear."
