From that time Jesus began to let his disciples know that he must go to Jerusalem; and that there he would suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
Peter took hold of him, and scolded him, saying, "This is never going to happen. Let this be far from you."
But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan. You are becoming a stumbling-block to me, because you are worried about human things, not the things of God."
Then he said to his disciples, "If anyone wants to come with me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. What profit does someone have, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? What will a man give in exchange for his life?
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he will reward every man according to his deeds. Truly, some who stand here will not taste death until they see the Son of man in his kingdom.
