For the Spirit of Prayer.

ALMIGHTY God, who pours out the spirit of grace and of supplication to all who ask for it; Deliver me, when I draw near to you, from coldness of heart and wanderings of mind, so that with steadfast thoughts and kindled affections, I may worship You in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

In the Morning.

O GOD, the King eternal, who divides the day from the darkness, and turns the shadow of death into the morning; Drive far off from me all wrong desires, incline my heart to keep your law, and guide my feet into the way of peace; that having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day, I may give you thanks with a joyful heart when the night comes; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, who alone gave us the breath of life, and alone can keep our hearts filled with your holy desires: I ask you, trusting in your infinite compassion, to sanctify my thoughts and endeavors; that I may neither begin an action without a pure intention nor continue it without your blessing. And grant that, having the eyes of my mind opened to behold things invisible and unseen, my heart may be inspired by your wisdom, and my work upheld by your strength, and in the end, that I may be accepted by you as your faithful servant; through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Amen.

For the Night.

O LORD, I pray for your support all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and my work is done. Then in your mercy, grant me and my family a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last.
Amen.

O GOD, who is the life of mortal men, the light of the faithful, the strength of those who labor, and the repose of the dead; I thank you for the timely blessings of the day, and humbly beg for your merciful protection all this night. Bring me and my loved ones, I beseech you, in safety to the morning hours; through him who died for us and rose again, your Son, our Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Sunday Morning.

O GOD, who makes us glad with the weekly remembrance of the glorious resurrection of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ; Give me this day such blessings through my worship of you, that the days to come may be spent in your service; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For Quiet Confidence.

O GOD of peace, who has taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength; By the might of your Spirit lift me, I pray, to your presence, where I may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For Guidance.

O GOD, who guides the meek in judgment and makes the light rise out of darkness for the godly; Grant me, in all my doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have me do, that the Spirit of Wisdom may save me from all false choices, and that in your light I may see light, and in your straight path may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For Trustfulness.

O MOST loving Father, who wills us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you, who cares for us; Preserve me from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, and grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from me the light of that love which is immortal, and which you manifested unto us in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

O HEAVENLY Father, you understand all your children; through your gift of faith we bring our perplexities to the light of your wisdom, and receive the blessed encouragement of your sympathy, and a clearer knowledge of your will. Glory be to you for all your gracious gifts.
Amen.

For Joy in God's Creation.

O HEAVENLY Father, who has filled the world with beauty; Open my eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that rejoicing in your whole creation, I may learn to serve you with gladness, faithfully managing your bounty; for the sake of him by whom all things were made, your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For the Children.

ALMIGHTY God, heavenly Father, who has blessed us with the joy and care of children; Give us light and strength to train them, that they may love those things that are true and pure and lovely and of good report, following the example of their Jesus Christ.
Amen.

For the Absent.

O GOD, whose fatherly care reaches to the uttermost parts of the earth; I humbly beseech you graciously to behold and bless those whom I love, now absent from me. Defend them from all dangers of soul and body; and grant that both they and I, drawing nearer to you, may be bound together by your love in the communion of your Holy Spirit, and in the fellowship of the faithful; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For Those We Love.

ALMIGHTY God, I entrust all who are dear to me to your never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come; knowing that are doing for them better things than I can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A Parent's Prayer (1).

O God, Maker of all creation, you have made me worthy to be the [mother] of a family, and through your goodness have given me [a child] to raise. Let me remember that [this child is] yours, for you have given existence to all of us; and that you have infused [him] with an immortal soul, and have raised [him] to eternal life through baptism. In accordance with your will, you have adopted [him] and received [him] into the congregation of your Church. I pray that you will send down to me your help in raising my [child]. Give me patience and strength to do your will in raising [him]. Remind me to plant in [his] heart the root of all true wisdom — the fear of the Lord — so that all [his life] [he] may know and live by your Words. Open to [him] the understanding of your law. Until the end of [his] days let [him] act with the sense that you are present everywhere [he] may venture. Plant in [his] heart aversion to all wrongs, that [he] may be pure in [his] intentions. O righteous judge, in this world children suffer for the sins of their parents; I pray that you will not punish my [child] for my mistakes, but let your grace fall on [him] like the dew of the morning, fresh and new.

A Parent's Prayer (2).

O Heavenly Father, give your blessing to the fate of my [child]. Do not deprive [him] of [his] daily bread, send down to [him] in due time all that is necessary for the acquisition of blessings in eternity. Be merciful to [him], when [he] sins against your holy word; look not upon the sins of youth and ignorance; chastise [him] and have mercy on [him], but I pray, do not turn your face away from [him]. Let your countenance shine upon [him] in the days of [his] tribulation, that [he] may not fall into temptations beyond [his] strength. Cover [him] with your mercy, that your Holy Spirit may walk with [him] always, to preserve and comfort and instruct [him]. Do not abandon my [child], O Lord, but give [him] all that is profitable for salvation.

Amen.

Prayer for Bearing Troubles

O God, our help and assistance, who is just and merciful, and who hears the prayers of your people; look down upon me. a miserable sinner, have mercy upon me, and deliver me from the troubles that torment me, even though I might deserve them. I acknowledge and believe, O Lord, that you give us the trials of this life for our chastisement, when we drift away from you, and disobey your will; deal not with me according to my sins, but according to your endless mercy, for I am the work of your hands, and you know my weakness.

Grant me, I pray, your divine helping grace; endow me with patience and strength to endure my tribulations with complete submission to your will. You know my misery and suffering and to you, my only hope and refuge, I flee for relief and comfort; trusting your infinite love and compassion, that in due time, when you know it is for the best, you will deliver me from my troubles, and turn my distress into comfort, and I will rejoice in your mercy, and exalt and praise your Holy Name, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

Amen.

Evening Prayers (shorter)

OUR Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

LIGHTEN our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy only Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

For the Recovery of a Sick Person.

O MERCIFUL God, giver of life and health; Bless, I pray you, your servant, [N.], and those who administer to [him] with your healing gifts; that [he] may be restored to health of body and of mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For Recovery from Illness

O Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, Physician of souls and bodies, who became human and suffered death on the Cross for our salvation; through your tender love and compassion, you healed all kinds of sickness and affliction; I pray that you will visit me in my suffering, and grant me grace and strength to bear this sickness with which I am afflicted, with Christian patience and submission to your will, trusting in your loving kindness and tender mercy. Bless, I pray you, the means used for my recovery, and those who administer them. I know O Lord, that I justly deserve any punishment you may inflict upon me for, I have so often offended and sinned against you, in thought, word and deed. Therefore, I humbly pray to you to look upon my weakness, and deal with me not according to my sins, but according to the multitude of your mercies. Have compassion on me, and let mercy and justice meet; and deliver me from this sickness and suffering I am undergoing. Grant that my sickness may be the means of my true repentance and amendment of my life according to your will, that I may spend the rest of my days in your love and fear: that my soul, being helped by your grace and sanctified by your holy Spirit, may be prepared for its passage to eternal life, in the company of the faithful, and may praise and glorify you, with your Eternal Father and life-giving Spirit.
Amen.

For One about to undergo Surgery.

ALMIGHTY God our heavenly Father, I pray that you will comfort your servant [N.] in [his] suffering, and will bless those who try to heal [him] and the means they use. Fill [his] heart with confidence, that even though [he] is sometimes afraid, [he] yet may put his trust in you; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Thanksgiving After Recovery from Sickness

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, source of life and fountain of all good things, I bless your Holy Name, and give you the most hearty thanks for having delivered me from my sickness and restored me to health. Grant me your continuing grace, that I may keep my good resolutions and correct the errors of my past life, and improve in virtue, and live a new life in dutiful fear of you, doing your will in all things, and devoting this new life which you have given me to your service: that living for you, I may be ready when it is your will to call me to you. All honor, praise, glory, and thanksgiving to you, heavenly Father, together with your blessed son Jesus and the Holy Comforter, now and forever.
Amen.

For a Birthday.

WATCH over your child, O Lord, as his days increase; bless and guide him wherever he may be, keeping him unspotted from the world. Strengthen him when he stands; comfort him when discouraged or sorrowful; raise him up if he fall; and in his heart may your peace, which passes human understanding, abide all the days of his life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For an Anniversary of One Departed.

ALMIGHTY God, I remember this day before you your faithful servant [N.], and pray that, having opened to [him] the gates of larger life, you will receive [him] more and more into your joyful service; that [he] may win, with you and your servants everywhere, the eternal victory; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For Those Suffering from Mental Illness.

O HEAVENLY Father, I beseech you to have mercy upon all your children who are living with mental illnesses, [and especially your servant N.]. Restore them to strength of mind and cheerfulness of spirit, and give them health and peace; and if, because of their clouded minds, they are unable to pray for forgiveness of their sins, I pray that you will keep their souls pure and blameless, through the miraculous love of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For a Blessing on the Families of the Land.

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who sets the solitary person in the comfort of families; I commend to your continual care the homes in which your people dwell. Put far from them, I beseech you, every root of bitterness, the desire of boastful vanity, and the pride of life. Fill them with faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness. Knit together in constant affection those who, in holy wedlock, have been made one flesh; turn the heart of the parents to the children, and the heart of the children to the parents; and fill us all with true love and charity, so that we put aside petty differences and act with kind affection and the sympathy of brotherly love; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For all Poor, Homeless, and Neglected People.

O GOD, Almighty and merciful, who heals those that are broken in heart, and turns the sadness of the sorrowful to joy; Let your fatherly goodness be upon all that you have made. Remember in pity those who are this day destitute, homeless, or forgotten by their fellow men. Bless the congregation of your poor. Uplift those who are cast down. For those who suffer innocently, I pray that you will sanctify their endurance of the wrongs worked on them, keeping their hearts free of bitterness. Cheer with hope all discouraged and unhappy people, and help those who are tempted into sin by their poverty; though they be troubled on every side, suffer them not to be distressed; though they be perplexed, save them from despair. Grant this, O Lord, for the love of him, who for our sakes endured poverty and blameless suffering, your Son, our Jesus Christ.
Amen.

For Faithfulness in the Use of this World’s Goods.

ALMIGHTY God, whose loving hand has given us all that we possess; Grant us grace that we may honor you with our substance, and remembering the account which we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of your bounty; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A General Intercession.

O GOD, at whose word we go forth to our work and labor until the evening; Be merciful to all whose duties are difficult or burdensome, and comfort them in their toil. Shield from bodily accident and harm the workmen at their work. Protect the efforts of sober and honest industry, and do not let employers withhold the honest wages of those who labor. Incline the heart of employers and of those whom they employ to mutual forbearance, fairness, and good will.

Give the spirit of governance and of a sound mind to all in positions of authority. Bless all those who labor in works of mercy or in schools. Care for all aged persons, and all little children, the sick and the afflicted, and those who travel by land, sea, or air. Remember all who by reason of weakness are overtasked, or because of poverty are forgotten. Let the sorrows and regrets of prisoners come before you; and according to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are appointed to die. Give ear unto my prayer, O merciful and gracious Father, for the love of your dear Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Thanks for the Life of Christ

Almighty God, I thank you for the life and teachings of your only Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is amazing to me that he lived and walked among us, one of us, a mortal man who bled and felt pain, who felt anger and love, who would become tired and hungry. Your love in showing us that you would share the burdens of mortality is great. Although the terrible beating and torture, and long painful death, that He suffered at the hands of the state was a terrible thing, his ultimate victory in overcoming that death was the greatest victory in the history of mankind. I praise you for Christ's resurrection and victory, and for His promise to all people, that he will intercede for them at their death, and bring them to eternal life. Today we remember and celebrate His resurrection, giving all glory to Father, Son and Holy Spirit for this miracle and the redemption of our own lives. Through Christ I pray,

Amen.

Grace before Meals.

BLESS, O Father, your gifts to our use and us to your service; for Christ’s sake.
Amen.

GIVE us grateful hearts, our Father, for all your mercies, and keep us always mindful of the needs of others; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
