Thankfulness

Always Be Thankful

“Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

~I Chronicles 16:34

The Bible is filled with examples of why believers should always be thankful. Paul the apostle, and “brother Timothy” wrote a letter of thanksgiving and prayer to the church at Colosse. In Colossians 1:3 they stated: “We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” because “you trust in Christ Jesus, and that you love all of God's people”.

Psalm 92 emphasizes thankfulness. Verse 1a states: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord...”. You need to thank God for the Bible, for His son Jesus Christ, and for His continued presence within you and surrounding you.

Why not write your list of good things for which you are thankful. You may want to include people who have blessed you by making a difference in your spiritual growth. As you write their name on the list, thank God for placing them into your path at the perfect time. Paul expressed thankfulness for each person in Rome who was a Christian. Savor the opportunity to meditate upon Paul's letters to the churches in which he often thanked someone. Observe the numerous times he expressed thankfulness to God.

God's people ought to keep reminding themselves of answered prayers and make a note of them. Thank Him for them. Plus, you may desire to add the date they were answered. By doing this it will aid you to continue to keep thanking Him for His answers.

Paul wrote a letter to the church at Thessalonica and to all believers everywhere. He stated that: “no matter what happens, always be thankful”. Why does Paul tell them to “always be thankful”? It is because “this is God's will for you”. This is not an easy assignment when difficult challenges are facing you, is it?

As God's people, always keep uppermost in your thoughts that God is watching over each and every one of you, even during the tough times. Why not kneel before Him today; lower your head; and thank Him for His mercy and kindness.

Lord God, thank You for your love which sustains us, even during the trials that we face. Amen.
