Green Meadows and Peaceful Streams
“He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength; He guides me along the right paths, bringing honor to His name.”
Webster's Dictionary describes renew as: “to begin or take up again”.
In what ways does Almighty God renew you? For example, do you need to “rest in green meadows” to be renewed? Possibly you need to sit awhile “beside peaceful streams”. Or, perhaps you need a change of heart? Do you long to have a heart that truly desires to “begin or take up again”? Is your heart ready for a complete change, a transformation, or renewal that only God can accomplish? Ezekiel 36:26a states: “(God) will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you”.
It is easy to lose heart because of the numerous challenges that you face that nearly engulf you. While you are waiting, stressed out and tired, take time to go into His presence, and lean into Him. Spiritual renewal comes to His people as they wait on Him. Pray and ask Him to renew and refresh your life with His strength and joy. Isaiah 40:31 states: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
Occasionally, the Lord has to nudge you, or guide you, along the right path in order for you to “rest in green meadows”, or to sit beside the “peaceful streams” so He can restore your strength.
Do you need the loving touch of Almighty God? Does your soul need to be restored by Him? Why not renew or revive your commitment to Jesus Christ by asking for His assistance? Ask Him to create within you “a clean heart” by renewing you with “a right spirit”.
Paul encouraged God's people in the church in Corinth. In the Book of II Corinthians, Paul indicated why we should never give up because “our spirits are being renewed every day”. Allow the resurrection power of Jesus Christ to renew and restore your soul with His strength and joy. Permit Him to guide you “along the right paths”, and to enable you to find the “green meadows”, and the “peaceful streams”. Then, moment by moment, you will become fully equipped to live your life to honor Him.
Lord God, thank You for renewing each of us each day with strength and joy. Help us to accept Your guidance, and to glorify You throughout our lifetime. Amen.
