In worship, God imparts himself to us. ~ C.S.Lewis
Prayers
Scripture
Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
Prayer for the Morning
Oh Lord, most heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who has safely brought me to the beginning of this day; I give you thanks for my creation, preservation, and all the blessings of my life. Grant that this day I fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all my doings, being governed by your will, may be righteous in your sight. Through Christ our Lord, I pray.
Prayer for Grace and Strength
Lord God, I pray that you will fill my heart with the blessing of your Holy Spirit. Grant me this day the strength to be temperate in all things, diligent in my duties, and patient under my afflictions. Direct me in all my ways. Give me grace to be just and upright in all my dealings; quiet and peaceable; full of compassion; and ready to do good to all people, according to my abilities and opportunities. For the sake of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Community of Prayer
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be among the community of all who pray in the name of Christ this morning, and remain among us always.
Think of the day ahead in terms of God with you, and visualize health, strength, guidance, purity, calm confidence, and victory as the gifts of His presence.
Psalm 118
God's Love Endures Forever
Let Israel say: His love endures for ever.
Let the house of Aaron say: His love endures for ever.
Let those who fear the Lord say:His love endures for ever.
In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.
All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them off.
They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the Lord I cut them off.
They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them off.
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
O Lord, save us; O Lord, grant us success.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you.
The Lord is God, and he has made his light shine upon us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I will give thanks; you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

- Daily Devotion Comments • The Fuller Brush man
Mason, sometimes it seems the prayers posted in DP were written just for me, and today was no exception, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Jenny, it's funny, I do remember the Fuller Brush man, as well as the Tupperware and Avon ladies. I was just a young boy at the time, but it was always exciting to see these folks come in with all their new products. And my mother would occasionally buy a few things, but not often (money was tight back then!). Thanks for the memories and the awesome inspirational story. This morning's shower will feel different, we still use the same Dove brand bar soap in our house that my Mom always used when we were kids!
Prayers for Pete to get a good report from today's Dr. visit!!
Much love,
KimS

So glad the surgery went well Pete and will continue to pray for God’s gentle healing to defend you from all perils and bring you to full health! Thank you so much for letting us know how you’re doing. Blessings to you and your family…

Pete,
Thank you for the update. I will continue to pray for a good outcome. I’m so glad to hear the surgery went well but I’m sorry the recovery is a bit troublesome. Just rest and let your body heal. Thinking of you on Thursday.
May God bless you and keep you,
Cheryl N.

So many of you to thank, so I picked the last post for my response. My delay was because I had a setback. The surgery went very well but recovery was the issue. I am resting at home now but have a critical follow up on Thursday. If that goes well, i will be just fine. So, if you dont mind, please pray for that to go well.
I thank you prayer warriors as your prayers were answered. My appointment in the morning Thursday so will let you all know how it goes.
Again, thanks so very, very much.
Pete

I agree Carol, I know I keep finding in my self the same pridefulness, over and over. I am grateful to God every time pride shows up, that He forgives. Also that His Spirit guides me to see my sin. - Sherry in Washington

Definitely Yes, but . . . "down the line" is the operative phrase. I'm called to study 1 Corinthians as soon as possible, and we are going to need to intersperse some non-Pauline epistles, and Matthew is still in the first chapters. So it will be a while. Can we cover Romans next? It was one of the (many) books we studied in college (many weeks, er, years ago) and I've always loved it. Not necessarily next in line, but perhaps down the line.
I love Romans, too! But we only have so many days per year for New Testament study. - Daily Devotion Comments • Re: Problems in Exodus story
I was thinking of the fact God gave us free choice and Adam and Eve made the evil choice. We humans continue to make the evil choice in our thoughts, words and deeds, even when we don't want to slip that way. Thank you Jesus for forgiveness and the strength to start again.

I have a request, Mason...

That's all!
